February Newsletter – WSC

Summer is Coming – Sign Up Now!

The ground may be covered in snow up here in New England, but don’t let that fool you, the summer is right around the corner. Just 4 months from now WSC 2017 will be starting in what is going to be our best summer ever! In addition to the return of Jason and Providence to their new positions as sports directors of Basketball and Tennis, we have a bunch of other coaches returning as well. We also have a LOT of athletes who have already signed up for next summer. Make sure to sign up before the weeks you want are full!

There are several changes for World Sports Camp 2017 which will make it even better! Our new partnership with the Real Madrid Foundation and our week 5 clinic with them is going to be AMAZING (see details in the article below). Our new Director of Soccer from Spain is a great addition to our soccer program, and golf has a partnership with a new golf course which includes a return to working with our favorite PGA professionals Mike and Frank from 2015.

Meet Our 2 New Assistant Directors

Welcome aboard Jason!

jason-headshotWe are so excited to have last summer’s basketball coach, Jason Shivley, working at World Sports Camp full time as the Assistant Director and Director of Basketball. Just a few months ago he moved all the way here from his home in Michigan and he has hit the ground running. He has been reaching out to families new and old, as well as already planning for next summer.

Jason graduated from Ball State University last year with a degree in Sports Management. In addition to working for the camp all year round, Jason has already gotten a position as a head basketball coach for the girl’s basketball team at a local high school. His team has been almost unstoppable!

Hi Taylor – The Newest Member at WSC

Taylor’s joining World Sports Camp as our newest Assistant Director after working as a news/sports reporter for Lakeland Public Television in Brainerd, Minnesota.

She is a recent graduate from the University of Rhode Island with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and a minor in Gender and Women’s Studies. During her time in school, she played Division I softball for Rhode Island playing as a first baseman, catcher, and designated hitter.

Her previous work includes two seasons working as a Media Relations Coordinator for the Ocean State Waves out of the New England Collegiate Baseball League, interning with the WPRI sports department, as well as the URI athletics media relations department. Taylor also spent two summers interning as a strength and conditioning coach at Athletic Based Training in Milford, Massachusetts.

Real Madrid Foundation Clinic at WSC

In our special edition Newsletter we announced that WSC will be the first camp in the United states to host an Overnight / Day clinic with Real Madrid Foundation and the response has been amazing. We have heard from a number of families already, and several athletes have even mentioned it to their friends. What better way to make camp even more fun than to bring a friend or teammate from home to camp with you?

The clinic is open to any athlete attending week 5 of camp (week of July 23rd) and would like to participate. For more details and information about the clinic check out our web page here.

All other sports and activities will be running as usual, but spots are going to fill up fast for week 5, therefore, be sure to sign up soon!

We’d also like to send a special shout-out to the Generation Adidas International organization for making this partnership possible.

Hi From Chris…

Hey guys! I just wanted to say that I’m really looking forward to coming back to camp and seeing all you guys.

I haven’t really been doing much since camp. Mostly life-guarding and playing soccer and looking for a winter job while studying. So yeah pretty boring stuff. I can’t wait to see all of you again this summer! I hope you guys are doing well and I hope all my soccer friends had a great fall soccer season (I can’t wait till spring)
